What is Bourse Data's involvement?
Bourse Data has no involvement in your trading activities, except to provide a "window" to the Iress Trading Platform. Bourse Data does not receive any direct fees or commissions for the provision of this service and has no access to monitor your trading activities.
What is CHESS Sponsorship?
All shareholdings (with a very few exceptions) are recorded electronically. To facilitate electronic transfer of ownership of shares, the ASX developed a system called CHESS (Clearing House Electronic Sub-register System). Your ownership of shares is either recorded in CHESS (CHESS Sponsored), or in the listed company's own sub-register (Issuer Sponsored). As the name implies, you require a Sponsor to have your holdings recorded under CHESS. This is typically your stockbroker, but can also be your margin lender.
Cash Management Trusts (CMTs)
How do I open my CMT account?
First, you will need to review the appropriate Product Disclosure Statements (PDS). If you have questions after reading these documents, you should contact the relevant institution directly. The PDS contains all the necessary information to open your CMT account, including forms. To speed your application process, you may choose to send your initial deposit cheque with your application forms. The application forms must be sent to your selected broker together with all other paperwork.
Opening my new broking account
How do I open my account?
Click on the "Create an Account" link for your selected broker. The web site will guide you through the application process and provide you with all the required information and forms - tailored to your own circumstances. Follow the instructions carefully and be sure to read and understand all the information provided.
Do I have to transfer CHESS Sponsorship from my current broker account to my new account?
No you can maintain a number of broker relationships although you can only sell securities through the broker that sponsored your holdings. You can however transfer sponsorship from one broker to another.
How do I transfer sponsorship of my holdings to my new broker account?
Your new broker will supply you with the appropriate paperwork.
Trading and Settlement
If I'm not at my Bourse computer, can I place a trade over the web or the phone?
Yes. You can access Bourse Trade through our web site at www.boursedata.com.au from any computer connected to the internet.
How do I place a trade?
Bourse Trade has a very simple, uncluttered user-interface to make trading as simple and intuitive as possible. Click on the question mark button on the Place Order pages for step-by-step instructions.
Can I place a contingent order?
Yes, provided this is supported by your chosen broker. For more information on this facility click here.
Can I trade warrants?
Yes, provided this is supported by your chosen broker. You trade warrants from the Buy Shares and Sell Shares screens.
Can I short sell equities?
Yes, provided this is supported by your chosen broker, Bourse Trade enables you to access your broker’s Securities Lending facilities.
Can I write options?
Yes, provided this is supported by your chosen broker. You may execute Option buy writes or write covered calls through your account. Click on the question mark button on the Buy/Sell Options page for instructions.
How can I exercise an option in my portfolio?
If you wish to exercise an option that you hold, you will need to notify your broker before 4.00PM that trading day. Make sure that you specify your broker account number, the option series and description.
I'm not a resident of Australia. Can I still use Bourse Trade?
You can only trade ASX listed securities through Bourse Trade. If the regulations in your country allow you to trade in foreign markets using a foreign broker, then yes!
When will I know my trade has been executed if I don't get the Confirmation Contract Note until the end of the day?
You can follow the progress of your trades on the Current Orders page. This page will list all your trades awaiting execution, as well as trades that have executed during the day.
Do I get any other trading activity reports?
Yes. The Trade History page allows you to list all your transactions over any period up to 100 days. This report can be downloaded to other applications such as spreadsheets, accounting packages or portfolio management systems.
Can I sell stock sponsored by my current broker through Bourse Trade?
No. You can only sell securities through the Bourse Trade service if they are sponsored by your chosen Bourse Trade broker. You can transfer sponsorship at any time.
Can I sell Issuer Sponsored stock through Bourse Trade?
No. You can only sell securities through the Bourse Trade service if they are sponsored by your chosen Bourse Trade broker. You can transfer sponsorship at any time.
